Stepping a voltage

An associated note is optimisation of a focus by automatically varying voltages.

One of the applied voltages can be stepped. The user is asked to specify the number of the voltage to be stepped, the number of steps, the initial value and the step increment.

For users who are editing or constructing an 'input data file' without the use of the data-builder -that is, pre-processor:

But Manual editing is certainly not recommended -it is a relic from the time when the databuilder was not available All users are strongly encouraged to use the databuilder, which always gives the correct formats and which has many options for which the formats are not described or easily deduced.

In CPO2D the option is activated by put the letter 's' as the next letter on the line that starts with 'y' or 'n' for 'iterate to optimise a focus'. Then add an extra line that gives the following 4 numbers: the number of the voltage to be stepped, the number of steps, the initial value of the voltage and the step increment.

In CPO3D put the letter 's' in the 6th space of the line that contains the number of test planes. Then add an extra line after the lines that give the parameters of the test planes, giving the number of the voltage to be stepped, the number of steps, the initial value, the step increment.
