Other types of 3D electrodes.

 

The most powerful way to create unusual shapes of 2D or 3D electrodes is by the option for users to use their own equations.


Included in the CPO package are also several programs that can be used to create some unusual shapes: 

Program for generating a 2D hyperbolic surface.

Program for generating segments of a 3D hyperbolic surface.

Programs for generating a 3D toroidal surface or a torus.

Program for generating segments for a rectangular slot in a spherical cap.

Program for a cut cone or cylinder -for a cut in a plane that is not perpendicular to the axis.

Or a 2D shape can be generated and then a program can be used to convert from the 2D data file to a 3D data file.

 

Another way to create other types of 3D electrodes is to use the ‘shap’ data files. The shapes in these can be can be pasted into a cpo3d data file and can of course be transformed -rotated, scaled, moved, reflected. Here are some that can be useful:

shap3d01: A sphere stretched to make an ellipsoid, using stretching option.

shap3d02: A cylinder of elliptical cross section, created by stretching transversely.

shap3d03: An elliptical disc with an elliptical hole at the centre.

shap3d04: A cylinder of elliptical cross section, created with segments of elliptical cross section.

shap3d07: A split disc.

shap3d08: A clipped (truncated) hemispherical deflection analyzer.

shap3d09: A split cylinder deflector.

shap3d10: A thick flat plate with a rectangular hole in it.

shap3d11: A cylinder truncated at an angle of 45 degrees to its axis, by using the 'clipping' option -superseded by shap3d26.

shap3d12: A cylinder truncated at an angle of 45 degrees to its axis, by using 'cylindrical triangular' segments -superseded by shap3d26.

shap3d13: 3 circular holes symmetrically positioned in a disc.

shap3d14: A circular hole at the centre of a disc, surrounded by 6 others.

shap3d15: A cylindrical deflection analyzer, using 'cre'.

shap3d19: A grid of 289 holes.

shap3d20: A grid of 9 holes.

shap3d21: A rectangular plate with a rectangular slot.

shap3d22: A rectangular plate with a circular hole, 1st method.

shap3d23: A rectangular plate with a circular hole, 2nd method.

shap3d24: A spherical cap with a rectangular hole, first method.

shap3d25: A spherical cap with a rectangular hole, second method.
